2018 Back to the Classics Challenge

I’m super excited for this challenge. I have at least three full shelves of classics that I keep telling myself I’ll read, and then my new books always end up getting chosen first. I’m sure my classics are starting to feel like that one kid in gym class.

Books and Chocolate has put together a challenge that gives me quite a few great options to read this year. Here’s what I hope to get through in 2018, and the categories they fall into:

  1. 19th Century Classic: Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens
  2. 20th Century Classic: Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston
  3. Woman AuthorThe Awakening by Kate Chopin
  4. In Translation: Don Quixote by Miguel de Cervantes
  5. Children’s Classic: The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster
  6. Crime Story: Murder on the Orient Express by Agatha Christie
  7. TravelGulliver’s Travels by Jonathan Swift
  8. One Word Title: Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov
  9. Color in the Title: Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery
  10. New Author: Caligula by Albert Camus
  11. Length Scares Me: Les Miserables by Victor Hugo
  12. Re-read: Ethan Frome by Edith Warton

I’m optimistic that 2018 is going to be the year I tackle my classics shelves. Thank you for the inspiration!
